What Are Reed Diffusers?
Reed diffusers are aromatic mixtures that you can use to keep your home fresh and relaxing. Unlike scented candles, which require heat, these diffusers use reeds to bring the right fragrance into your indoor air. We use felt reeds instead of the traditional rattan reeds.
How Do Diffuser Reeds Work?
When you dip the reed diffuser sticks into a jar containing the fragrance mixture, they soak up like capillary wicks. When the oil reaches the exposed parts of your reeds, it evaporates slowly, releasing the aroma into your air. You should flip the reeds every three days and replace them when they get too clogged. The diffuser will keep running until your jar is dry.
How Much Fragrance Should You Use in Your Reed Diffuser?
The amount of fragrance you use will depend on the size of your room. A bigger house will require more fragrance compared to a smaller one. Pour 4 ounces of fragrance mixture into the 8-ounce oil vessel. This will last you two to three months on average with about three reeds. Remember that the number of reeds you use will determine the oil’s duration. You will also get a stronger scent with every reed you add. Store the remaining fragrance oil in a cool, dark place to preserve it before the next refill.
Are Reed Diffusers Safe for Pets?
Unfortunately, most reed diffusers are not healthy for your pets because your furry friends are more sensitive than us. On the bright side, fragrances, such as lavender, are safe for most pets. We advise that you consult your vet to find out if your pet will be okay with the changes. If you decide to use your diffuser, even a safe one, you must keep it out of reach of your pets. While it may be generally safe for boosting your home’s fragrance, the oil is toxic if ingested or if it gets into contact with your pet’s eyes or snout. Additionally, ensure your home is well-ventilated to keep your pets comfortable.
